Adam Schiff says the US must keep up the pressure on Aliyev and Erdogan to end the war
US Congressman Adam Schiff insists the United States should continue pressuring Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to end the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Yesterday, I spoke with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan about the efforts to secure a ceasefire in Artsakh, and Azerbaijan and Turkey’s continued deadly aggression. The United States must keep up the pressure on Aliyev and Erdogan to end this war,” Schiff tweeted.
To note, earlier the US State Department announced that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh beginning on Monday 08:00 am local time.
Minutes after the ceasefire entered into force, the Armenian side reported that despite the announcement of a new humanitarian ceasefire, the Azerbaijani forces once again crudely violated the reached agreement, opening artillery fire at around 08:45 in the northeastern and southeastern directions of Artsakh frontline as well as using military aviation in an attack on the city of Martuni.
This has been the third agreed humanitarian ceasefire violated by Baku.
