Yeghishe Kirakosyan: We haven't received any notification on Azerbaijan's appeal to ECHR
Azerbaijan has not lodged any appeal with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) over its prisoners of war captured by the Artsakh military, according to Armenia's representative to the ECHR Yeghishe Kirakosyan.
"In any case, we have not received any notification from the ECHR at this point," Yeghishe Kirakosyan told Panorama.am.
He also said that they were looking forward to the ECHR response to an appeal concerning three Armenian POWs.
"There is nothing new, the working day has just stated there, I think we will get it today or tomorrow. We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of POWs, so that their rights are not violated," he said.
The Armenian representative to the European court has submitted an application to the ECHR concerning 8 prisoners of war, a video of whom was spread by Azerbaijani media outlets on October 22. Kirakosyan earlier stated that they had received a response of the ECHR regarding 5 POWs, because they were able to identify them from the beginning, afterwards they filed an appeal over the remaining three captives.
A group of Armenian lawyers has applied to the ECHR over six other Armenian POWs.
