Azerbaijani forces shell Armenian border guard positions near Iran – Defense Ministry
The Azerbaijani troops have shelled the Armenian border guard positions located in the country’s southeast, next to the border with Iran, the Armenian Defense Ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
“At around 10:00-10:15 a.m. this morning, the Azerbaijani side again violated the ceasefire regime, shelling the Armenian border guard positions located in the south-eastern direction, at the junction with Iran. The enemy also used combat UAVs, one of which fell in Armenia’s territory,” Shushan Stepanyan wrote on Facebook.
“Having fixed the regular violation of ceasefire and the shelling of Armenia’s state territory, Armenia’s Defense Ministry reports that it will have to strike retaliatory blows at the Azerbaijani forces,” she added.
Earlier the US State Department announced that Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh beginning on Monday morning, however Azerbaijan violated the truce.
