MFA Spokeswoman comments on the change of date for Geneva talks on Nagorno-Karabakh
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan will travel to Geneva on a working visit to meet with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmen, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan told a briefing on Thursday. In her words, FM Mnatsakanyan is holding a meeting with Iranian envoy at the moment. Details of the talks will be communicated later.
To remind, in a statement on October 25, the OSCE Minsk Group said the Co-Chairs and Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had agreed to meet in Geneva on October 29. Later, it was reported that the meeting was postponed and rescheduled for October 30.
Asked to comment on the agenda of the upcoming meeting, Naghdalyan noted that FM Mnatsakanyan is set to hold a meeting with Minsk Group Co-Chairs, which is the only format of the meeting at the moment she can confirm.
As to the the change of date, Naghdalyan said it was “linked to the evolving situation and logistical issues,” adding that the end of hostilities in line with the October 10 ceasefire agreement is a priority for Armenia.
"The establishment of the ceasefire and and its strengthening through verifiable mechanisms is a priority for Armenia," said Naghdalyan.
