Additional consultations to be held to determine the type of assistance Russia could provide to Armenia - Maria Zakharova
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has commented on Armenia's request to start consultations in order to determine the type and volume of assistance that Russia could provide to Armenia to ensure its security. Speaking to Russian Vesti 24 Channel, Zakharova stated that details about the assistance to Armenia will be discussed additionally.
"The principled position of Russia is that Moscow will fulfill its commitments toward Yerevan, if fighting spills over to the territory of Armenia," Zakharova said, adding the position is reflected in the Russian Foreign Ministry statement issued on Saturday.
"As to the type and format of the assistance, additional consultations will be held," added the Russian diplomat.
To remind, earlier Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan formally asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to begin urgent consultations with the aim of determining the kind and scale of assistance which the Russian Federation can provide to the Republic of Armenia to ensure its security, based on the allied relations.
