Heavy fighting reported in northwestern part of Artsakh-Azerbaijan frontline on Sunday
Heavy battles took place in the northwestern part of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan frontline on Sunday, November 1, between 8:30pm to 11:40pm, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, the official representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry, told RFE/RL’s Armenian service on Monday.
"The Azerbaijani side launched an offensive with an entire company in the direction of two key positions of the Defense Army, which was thwarted in persistent inter-positional battles. The adversary suffered heavy losses and fled. While fleeing, they were blocked in one of the gorges and the Armenian forces continued their complete destruction through accurate mortar fire,” he said.
The Azerbaijani troops attempted another attack in the same direction with a platoon, which was timely detected by the Artsakh defense forces and stopped due to well-planned operations.
“Our subdivisions have chased the fleeing adversary and destroyed them,” the representative said, adding the Artsakh forces are in full control of the situation in that section of the frontline.
