Lavrov urges countries not to send mercenaries from Middle East to Karabakh
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urges external players, including Turkey, to use their powers to prevent mercenaries from the Middle East being sent to the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The Russian minister's remarks came in an interview with Kommersant newspaper, Sputnik news agency reported.
In the words of the Russian FM, according to available data, the number of mercenaries in Nagorno Karabakh is already approaching 2,000. The minister recalled that this topic was raised by President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 27.
He also noted that the work of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk group continues, though how specifically it can be ensured that a ceasefire is observed in Karabakh has not been agreed yet.
