Turkish state broadcaster fires reporter for “Azerbaijan attacks civilians” headline
The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), while broadcasting a live report on the latest developments in the war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), made a “scandalous mistake” by deviating from the Turkish-Azerbaijani propaganda falsification.
The Turkish headline that appeared on the screen during the report read: "Azerbaijan attacks civilians".
This caused an uproar in the Turkish press and on social media, Ermenihaber reported.
The TV company apologized for the incident and tried to correct the "mistake" by firing the author of the headline.
In a statement, TRT also said that the headline was corrected immediately after the broadcast.
Turkish users expressed their frustration on social media, calling the incident a "disgrace". They also reminded of similar "mistakes" made by the public broadcaster in the past.
