Grape purchases up 30% this year, minister says
The value of gross agricultural output will improve by the end of the year, Armenia’s Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan told a parliamentary discussion on the 2021 state budget on Friday.
He said that the Statistical Committee had already released the economic activity index of nine months.
"Despite numerous difficulties, we have a positive economic activity index in the field of agriculture, which is 0.5% higher from the same period last year. This indicator will improve by the end of the year,” the minister said.
In Khachatryan’s words, 2020 was a special year in terms of grape harvesting and purchasing. According to various estimates, this year’s grape yield was at least 25-30% more than last year.
"We have almost summed up the whole process of grape purchasing. The amount of purchased grapes also shows that it is at least 30% more than last year,” he said.
