Defense Ministry official: Heavy fighting continues in the vicinity of Shushi
The Azerbaijani armed forces managed to approach to the vicinity of the Artsakh town of Shushi, near the town itself and in the direction of the roads. The battles do not stop night and day, Armenian Defense Ministry official Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a daily briefing on Saturday.
The adversary, involving new forces and military means, proceeds with its plans to capture Shushi, he said.
“At this moment, our army is persistently resisting, inflicting significant losses on the wings, rear, channels, but the battles are persistent and continuous,” the official said.
“In the direction of Martuni, the Azerbaijani armed forces tried to attack with the help of armored vehicles, but after losing one or two units of armored vehicles, they were thrown back to the starting lines, leaving behind corpses.”
Fighting also took place south of Berdzor. The Azeri troops tried several times to advance but failed. The Artsakh Defense Army subdivisions managed to make some improvements in that direction, Hovhannisyan said.
