Parliament speaker: Recognition of Artsakh’s independence has, first of all, moral significance
Speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly Artur Tovmasyan expressed gratitude to the parliaments of those countries that have adopted a resolution supporting Artsakh at thus difficult time.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Tovmasyan reminded that for more than a month Artsakh has been at the forefront of the fight against international terrorism, which Turkey and Azerbaijan use as a tool for the realization of their geopolitical ambitions and military tasks.
"The events unfolding in Artsakh today are not another escalation of a local conflict, but, without exaggeration, an episode of global resistance to international terrorism. The people of the Artsakh Republic, facing the ontological evil and protecting their right to life, freedom and dignity, are defending the universal values of modern civilization,” he wrote.
“I assure you that the adoption of a resolution recognizing the independence of the Artsakh Republic and the right to self-determination has not only political but also, first of all, moral significance, as it shows that Artsakh is not alone in its struggle for a free and independent life.
“I am convinced that our efforts to build a free and democratic state will be duly appreciated and the Artsakh Republic, which repeatedly proved its viability as a sovereign state over the past years, will finally be recognized internationally. I would like to thank you once again for expressing your solidarity with the Armenians of Artsakh at this crucial moment," the parliament speaker said.
