Gagik Tsarukyan taken to the National Security Service - MP Iveta Tonoyan
The leader of Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan is taken to the National Security Service, MP Iveta Tonoyan told reporters at Liberty Square where a demonstration organised by 17 political parties is being held against the Karabakh armictice signed by PM Nikol Pashinyan.
"We are not sure what are the grounds for detention and what charges are brought against him. The authorities attempt to arrest Tsarukyan to overcome own fears. What do they want? Do they intend to detain 3 million citizens of Armenia? Everyone understands that after signing the disgraceful decision on Artsakh, Pashinyan tries to put the blame on others. Everyone understands that Pashinyan is the only one to blame," Tonoyan said.
Another MP from Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan suggested Nikol Pashinyan may order the detention of all , yet it would not help him avoid responsibility. "You may arrest all of us, yet your name will remain in history as the one who surrendered Artsakh, handed over the keys of Shushi," Zohrabyan said.
On Tuesday, 17 political forces of Armenia issued a joint statement, calling on citizens to join a rally at Liberty Square where they will present ways to overcome the occurred situation after what they described 'a traitorous armistice' was secretly signed by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.
Large police forces are currently mobilized at the scene. Law enforcement officers detain citizens, preventing their entry to the square.
