Defense ministry clarifies the fate of servicemen captured during hostilities or those whose whereabouts are still unknown
Armenia's defense ministry reports that the trilateral agreement reached by the Prime Minister of Armenia and the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan to establish ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh and the deployment of a Russian peacekeeping brigade have created an opportunity to clarify the fate of servicemen and civilians captured during hostilities or those whose whereabouts are still unknown, as well as for the exchange of bodies.
“The Armenian Defense Ministry is ready to provide comprehensive assistance to the Russian peacekeeping contingent. Active work is already underway with the leadership of the peacekeeping mission and with representatives of the ICRC to create mechanisms for the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the dead soldiers, as well as to implement this process in a short time,” the ministry said.
