Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent says he has no ethnic kinship with conflicting sides
The commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh Rustam Muradov is Tabasaran by nationality and has no ethnic kinship with the conflicting nations.
"With resect to my nationality, as all are interested, I was born in Dagestan. By nationality, I am Tabasaran and has no relation with the neighboring nation," Ria Novosti news agency quotes him as saying.
The source notes that, Tabasaran are indigenous people living in the southern part of the Republic of Dagestan.
Muradov has noted that he is set to implement his mission in the conflict zone and there can be no issue of nationality. "Russian laws, the decrees and instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Defense Minister and my command leadership are subject to immediate implementation, As a military, I carry out my duties without any consideration of nationality," Muradov has said.
