Health ministry: Forensic medical examination of 2,317 killed servicemen’s bodies performed so far
The bodies of a total of 2,317 Armenian servicemen killed in Artsakh fighting have been subjected to forensic medical examination so far, Ministry of Health spokeswoman Alina Nikoghosyan said on Saturday.
Her comments came in response to the allegations of Armenia’s former Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan that the Armenian authorities are hiding the real number of military casualties. He claims 4,750 soldiers have been reported dead in the war, adding autopsies have not been performed on 1,400 of them yet, while 1,100 soldiers have gone missing.
“To date, our forensic and medical service has examined the bodies of 2,317 dead servicemen, including unidentified ones. The process of exchanging the bodies of the killed servicemen left on the territory of the enemy has just begun, thus the conflicting parties cannot release the final numbers as long as those actions are in progress,” Nikoghosyan wrote on Facebook.
