Azerbaijan to take control of 7 settlements in Martakert
Seven villages of the Martakert region are also ceded to Azerbaijan as part of the Russia-brokered agreement between the Armenian and Azerbaijan leaders to end the war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
"The settlements of Nor Maragha, Nor Aygestan, Nor Seysulan, Nor Karmiravan, Nor Haykajur, Hovtashen and Nor Jraberd in the Martakert region are passing under the control of Azerbaijan in pursuance of the trilateral agreement reached between the Armenian prime minister and the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia to end the war in Karabakh,” the Artsakh Infocenter said on Wednesday.
“The statement says that the Aghdam region is to be returned to Azerbaijan by November 20, 2020. The mentioned settlements, as well as Akna settlement (Aghdam), according to the Azerbaijani side, are located in Aghdam region,” the center said.
The authorities are now taking measures to move the property of more than 2,000 residents from the villages and to provide them with temporary housing.
