Artsakh ombudsman: Overwhelming majority of people in Martakert’s 7 villages are double victims of conflict
Artsakh Human Rights Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan addressed the international community in a video message on Thursday, speaking about the rights of the people of the Artsakh communities which are being handed over to Azerbaijan.
The ombudsman stated that the overwhelming majority of the people of 7 villages of Martakert region – New Maragha, New Haykajur, New Karmiravan, New Seysulan, New Aygestan, New Jraberd and Hovtashen – are double victims of the conflict, as they lost their homes in the 1990s war under Azerbaijani occupation, and those villages used to be a part of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast even at the Soviet time. Moreover, the Maragha population was cruelly massacred by the Azerbaijani armed forces in 1992.
“Do they still have rights? Don’t be blind!” Beglaryan said in the message.
