Azerbaijani troops conducted a shift change, never left Shushi - Taron Hovhannisyan
Orientalist Taron Hovhannisyan commented on social media reports, alleging the Azeri troops had left the town of Shushi in Artsakh. The speculations rose after emerged videos, showing Azerbaijani troops and military equipment leaving the town of Shushi, accompanied by Russian peacekeeping convoys.
"The Azerbaijani troops have not left Shushi but conducted a shift change," Hovhannisyan wrote, explaining why the change was carried out under the Russian peacekeepers' control.
"The Azerbaijanis never took control of a paved road leading to Shushi from territories under their control. The only road to Shushi passes through Shosh village which is under the control of Armenian forces," Hovhannisyan said, pointing to the veracity of the claims that Shushi was handed over to Azerbaijan without a fight.
