ARF member on hunger strike stresses need for clarification of some points in trilateral statement on Artsakh
The Armenian people and army have not lost, it’s the country’s incumbent authorities that have suffered a defeat, member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF, Dashnaktsutyun) Gegham Manukyan told reporters on Monday.
The opposition figure went on an indefinite hunger strike today, demanding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation.
Manukyan said that it is possible to make changes in the trilateral statement on Artsakh without going against Russia, stating it is not about canceling the document, but rather clarifying some points in it concerning the Hadrut region, Karin Tak village or the border between Syunik and Azerbaijan.
"The deployment of peacekeepers is indispensable, especially in terms of ensuring Artsakh’s security. Moreover, I am sure that many more things will come to light,” the ARF member said, adding Nikol Pashinyan was urged to contact the Russian president at the first meeting with the parties, but he refused to do so for the first few days so that the Russian leader did not “get in his face”.
Manukyan believes such a move by Pashinyan was essential to prevent the country from ending up in such a situation.
