Photographer Zaven Sargsyan dies at 73
Armenian photographer Zaven Sargsyan, the director of the Sergei Paradjanov Museum, has died at the age of 73, composer Yervand Yerznkyan broke the news on Facebook.
"My friend and just great man Zaven Sargsyan has passed away. Rest in peace!” the composer said.
Zaven Sargsyan was born in Yerevan in 1947. In 1986 he was appointed Director of the State Museum of Folk Art of Armenia. He held that post until 1992. From 1992 until his death the photographer headed the Sergei Paradjanov Museum.
Sargsyan was engaged in photography from an early age. He was the personal photographer of renowned filmmaker Sergei Parajanov.
The photographer held solo exhibitions in Armenia, the US, France, Germany, China, Russia, Georgia, Serbia and other countries.
