Spanish Congress passes MP Jon Iñarritu’s motion on Artsakh
The Spanish Congress of Deputies on Monday adopted a motion submitted by MP Jon Iñarritu, in which the Congress expresses its condolences to the families of the civilian and military victims of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, the Armenian Embassy in Spain reported.
The motion reaffirms the deep friendship with the Armenian people, stresses the importance of the protection of Armenian cultural and religious sites in the areas under Azerbaijani control or set to be handed over to Azerbaijan.
The Congress also highlights the importance of increasing EU humanitarian assistance to the people of Artsakh, if necessary, as well as ensuring the return of internally displaced persons and refugees to their homes.
None of the political forces represented in the Congress voted against the motion, the embassy said.
