National Assembly debates draft decision to lift the martial law
The extraordinary session of Armenia's National Assembly started on Thursday debates on the draft decision to to lift the regime of the martial law in the country. The decision was submitted by opposition Bright Armenia Party with justification that the regime of the martial law restricts the freedom of citizens and negatively affects the country’s economy.
Earlier, the NA Committee for Defense and Security gave negative conclusion on the proposed measure, citing 'existing threat of the war resumption' per recommendation of the Armed Forces.
At the beginning of the session, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Lena Nazaryan announced that the issue will be debated in a general procedure, without establishment of duration. The Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Artur Sargsyan is in attendacne to present the government position.
