Qashatagh governor: Residents of Berdzor, Aghavno and Nerkin Sus will not be resettled
The resettlement of the population of Berdzor town and nearby Aghavno village of Artsakh has been one of the most discussed issues over the past days. The discussions came as the Armenian side set to hand over the Lachin district by December 1 to Azerbaijan as part of the trilateral statement signed on November 9.
Panorama.am turned to the governor of Artsakh's Kashatagh region for comments concerning the fate of the local population.
"It is known for now that the population of Berdzor, Aghavno and Nerkin Sus will stay in their places to live in peace," Governor Mushegh Alaverdyan told Panorama.am.
Berdzor Mayor Narek Alexanyan confirmed the report to Panorama.am, adding he had learnt the news from the regional authorities.
"Moods among residents are different, as some are staying, others plan to leave their homes, the third group prepares for return. However, most of the locals are ready to stay. I have four children. They are in Yerevan at present with my wife. I am still here and know that I have no place to go if I am asked to leave," said the mayor.
