Ara Saghatelyan on PM’s address: Now not the time for adventurism, face-saving
“Now is not the time for adventurism, face-saving or the “we will correct our mistakes” propaganda,” former National Assembly Chief of Staff Ara Saghatelyan said in an interview to Pastinfo on Friday, referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks in a televised address to the nation.
In Saghatelyan’s words, the incumbent authorities of Armenia are unable to correct their mistakes.
“These people simply lack experience, they have no idea what a state is, as a result of which the country suffers a downfall in all spheres and places. Armenians in abroad are suppressed, which will cause a chain reaction,” Ara Saghatelyan stressed.
According to him, the prime minister, clearly understanding that each subsequent day of the war resulted in more victims, prisoners of war and missing persons, protracted the war for unknown reasons.
“When a commander leads his army to death, it is adventurism. Such a person cannot serve as a commander. I am confident that this will become the subject of serious analysis by future authorities and coming generations,” he said.
Saghatelyan states any document must be signed on time and in a dignified status.
“When you do not have a status even among the three signers, when you are in the role of begging and whining, no one will respond promptly to your requests or whining, because today it is not clear who you are. And you are proud that you hold phone calls with the head of another state twice a day.
“The leader of another country will not solve the problems of your country instead of you. Resignation and national consent: this is the most correct, reasonable and shortest path. Our losses will increase every day, just like the number of our casualties increased with each passing day of the war,” Saghatelyan said.
Incidentally, the former chief of parliament staff was charged on Friday, but he denies the charges as “fabricated”.
