Almost 1,700 refugees return to their homes in Artsakh in one day
Russian peacekeepers escorted another convoy of buses with refugees to Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) from the territory of Armenia on Sunday, November 29, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
1,699 people were delivered from Yerevan to Stepanakert by buses. The movement of the column was escorted by patrols of the Russian peacekeeping contingent and military police.
Russian military personnel ensured the safety of buses moving across the contact line to return civilians to their homes in Stepanakert.
In total, more than 23,000 refugees have returned to Nagorno-Karabakh to their places of permanent residence.
In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, a complete ceasefire and all military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh were declared from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10.
A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation has been deployed to monitor the ceasefire and military operations in Artsakh.
The Russian contingent is based on units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.
