Armenia’s permanent population on the decline: statistics
Armenia’s permanent population keeps dropping. According to the latest figures released by the Statistical Committee, the country’s population shrank by 5,600 people over the past year or by 0.2%.
According to the newly publish report "Social snapshot and poverty in Armenia 2020" 47.2% of the population are males and 52.8% are females.
According to the source, 36 thousand babies were born in Armenia in 2019 which is is 600 less to compare with the birth rate recorded during 2018.
The mortality rate has meanwhile increased in the country by 1.7%. The ratio of birth and death stood at 9.8 thousand people in 2019 against thousand 10.8 recorded in 2018.
