Police in Armenia detain dozens of protesters staging civic disobedience actions
Dozens of protesters, participating in the civil disobedience actions in capital Yerevan, have been detained by police, Kristine Vardanyan, member of ARF Dashnaksutyun Youth Union has told reporters.
"We have used decentralized method to bloc Mashtots Avenue, specifically the area in front of the market. Then, we moved further to block Tigran Mets Street. Dozens of protesters by that time were detained by police and taken to different police stations. We have no clear idea about their whereabouts," Vardanyan said. She next read out a statement.
"The Youth Union of ARF Dashnaksutyun has launched a struggle against Nikol Pashinyan, who trying to cling on power by force, uses every method to prolong his rule in agony. Yesterday, we announced our intention to shut down roads through decentralized method, demanding Pashinyan's resignation. Starting from 6 o'clock, dozens of streets were blocked. With this, we complete our action for today. The struggle will continue, as we are about to use every means available to remove Pashinyan from office," said Vardanyan.
