Armenian, Italian foreign ministers hold phone call
Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian pn Wednesday held a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio.
Accepting the congratulations of his Italian counterpart on the appointment as the foreign minister of Armenia, Aizvazian expressed hope that mutual efforts will be made to enrich and make effective the Armenian-Italian bilateral agenda, the Foreign Ministry's press service reported.
The interlocutors touched upon the situation and the regional developments resulting from the Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh. The Armenian foreign policy chief strongly condemned the manifestations of inhuman and humiliating treatment of the captives by Azerbaijan.
Touching upon Turkey's expansionist aspirations and destabilizing policy in the neighboring regions, Minister Aivazian noted that in the war unleashed against Armenia and Artsakh, Turkey also had the most direct participation with its unconditional military-political assistance to Azerbaijan and transfer of foreign terrorist fighters from the Middle East to the region.
In the context of the peace process, the Armenian minister reiterated that the full and fair realization of the rights of the people of Artsakh, including the right to self-determination, remains a priority for Armenia. Both sides highlighted the importance of addressing the issues of the peace process exclusively within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
