The lists of the captives and missing people being verified at this stage - Tigran Avinyan
"We have certain progress regarding the captives and missing people of the Karabakh war," Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said on Wednesday during the Q/A session at the National Assembly.
"Both the Armenian and the Azerbaijani sides have presented their lists. At this stage, the process of verification of the lists is underway. Once the final lists are confirmed, the exchange [of bodies] will take place. We are trying to speed up the process as much as possible," Avinyan stressed.
In the words of the Deputy Prime Minister, after the war launched by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, the Armenian side has retrieved bodies of 846 Armenian servicemen from territories under Azerbaijani control. "Search operations continue, and the major part of the work on retrieving the bodies of the killed servicemen is behind. Since November 10, bodies of 846 killed have been retrieved, and the works still continue. There are 294 unidentified bodies at present, and those are handed to parents once the identity of the killed is verified," Avinyan informed.
