Aghavno resident: They seem to be doing everything possible for us to leave our homes
A crew of Civilnet visited the village of Aghavno in Kashatagh region to talk to the local residents who refuse to leave their homes.
The Aghavno or Ariavan settlement is located close to the Berdzor (Lachin) corridor, serving as a bridge between Artsakh and Armenia. After the recent war, the village remains deprived of electricity and gas supply, but the residents have no plans to leave it, Civilnet reports.
One of the villagers, Harut Genejyan, who is armed, said that panic was spread among the residents of Aghavno, adding gasoline was distributed to them to drive out of the village.
“They have left us without electricity supply and communication, as if on purpose for us to leave. We have nowhere to go. This is our sacred land; we are not going to go anywhere. It’s either death or freedom,” he said.
Women are also no less decisive, they will stay with their children and, if necessary, will take up arms. They are only concerned about the interrupted education of their children.
