Legendary Soviet and Russian actor Valentin Gaft has died
The legendary Soviet and then Russian actor Valentin Gaft died at the age of 85 in Moscow, TASS reported.The agency quoted the artist’s wife, Olga Ostroumova, as saying: “Yes, she is no longer with us. It happened today.”
TASS did not report the cause of death, but it was probably the result of a severe stroke he suffered several years ago, from which he never recovered in the first place. Valentin Gaft was born on September 2, 1935 in Moscow.
He has been in the troupe of the legendary Sovremennik since 1969, and his roles have long been in the golden fund of the Russian theater.
He also shoots a lot separately in the cinema, mainly his roles are played by negative characters. He will be remembered mostly for his performances in “17 Moments of Spring”, “Hello, I’m Your Aunt”, “Garage”, “Wizards”.
Valentin Gaft’s funeral will be on December 15 at the Troekurovsky Cemetery in Moscow, the source said.
