44 Armenian prisoners who returned from Azeri captivity include 30 soldiers, 14 civilians
44 Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) who returned from Azerbaijani captivity include 30 servicemen and 14 civilians, David Torosyan, the head of the For Armenian Soldier NGO, said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
A Russian plane carrying 44 Armenian prisoners landed at Yerevan’s Erebuni Airport late on Monday.
According to Torosyan, 4 out of 30 servicemen were captured by the Azerbaijani forces before the start of the war in Artsakh on 27 September, while 26 soldiers were taken prisoner during the war. Most of the civilians, 13, were captured after the launch of the war, he said.
The list of repatriated Armenian POWs includes 45 names. According to the published list, one of them is Narek Sardaryan, an Armenian shepherd who turned up in Nakhichevan.
