The policy of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan led to cruelties against ethnic Armenians in Artsakh - Ombudsman
Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received on Tuesday former Mayor of French city Lyon Gevorg Kepenekian and head of "Mother-Child" program of Merieux
Foundation, Doctor Khalil Etou. As the press department at the Ombudsman's Office reported, during the meeting, Tatoyan briefed the guests on the brutalities and the cases of tortures carried out by Azerbaijani forces against the military and civilians during September-November.
In the words of the Ombudsman, the targeting of the peaceful civilians of Artsakh and the use of prohibited weapons against them, the involvement of terrorist mercenaries, the Armenophobia and the widespread atrocities and inhuman treatment and cruelty, testify about the Azerbaijani policy of ethnic cleansing through terroristic methods; a policy that is continuing even today.
Tatoyan next stressed a conclusion that the promotion of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan over years
"For years, Armenophobia and Armenocide have been encouraged and their perpetrators have received state awards. All these have led the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to commit inhuman cruelty and atrocities against ethnic Armenians" concluded Mr. Arman Tatoyan.
The interlocutors also pointed to the need for cooperation in the protection of human rights and reached further agreements on cooperation.
