Russian peacekeepers defuse 189 explosives in Karabakh in one day
Most of the explosives that the servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Defense Ministry encounter during demining in Nagorno-Karabakh are artillery shells, mortar mines, hand grenades, as well as charges for hand grenade launchers, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Over the past day, Russian peacekeepers conducted engineering reconnaissance and demining of the area, cleared 1.5 km of roads, found and transported to a special equipped landfill, to destroy 189 explosives by explosive method.
Military personnel of the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Defense Ministry continue to work on engineering reconnaissance and mine clearance in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, the ministry said.
In total, during the peacekeeping operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, engineering units cleared more than 156 hectares of terrain and about 40 kilometers of roads, 375 residential buildings, and 5 thousand explosive objects were found and neutralized.
