Process of prisoner exchange between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues - Zakharova
The process of exchange of prisoners between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
The Russian diplomat reminded that according to the trilateral statement signed on November 9 by Russian, Azerbaijani presidents and the Armenian PM, an exchange of war prisoners took place according to ‘all-for-all’ principle, preceded by numerous preparation works.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that on December 16 an exchange of prisoners between Armenia and Azerbaijan was facilitated by Russian peacekeepers. According to the source, the Commander of Russian peacekeeping contingent handed over 12 prisoners to Azerbaijan and 44 to Armenia.
"On my side, I can add that the process of exchange of prisoners continues," said Zakharova.
