‘March of dignity' for Pashinyan’s resignation being held in Yerevan
An opposition “march of dignity” demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commenced near the Tumo Park in the Ajapnyak district of Yerevan, Armenia on Wednesday.
Political scientist Andranik Tjanyan announced their plans to march to the France Square.
Opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) member Gegham Manukyan stated that their struggle is for the homeland and dignity of Armenians.
"Many of you have relatives in Kapan, Goris, Zangezur or Meghri. Today Nikol Pashinyan is stealing their security. He welcomes the Turks with open arms on the outskirts of Goris and Kapan, that's why we demand Armenia without Nikol on behalf of the entire nation," Manukyan stated.
He urged all people following the protest in a live broadcast to take to the streets and join their fight.
“You should realize that this is not a political fight, but a struggle for survival,” the politician said, again urging Pashinyan to step down.
One of the leaders of the march, former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Arpine Hovhannisyan said they are rallying in the march to tell Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia will continue to exist.
“When Nikol Pashinyan said, either I will be the prime minister of Armenia, or there will be no prime minister, he shamelessly blackmailed the entire people, and now he says, either I will be the prime minister, or Armenia will no longer exist. We have gathered here today to tell the traitor that there will be Armenia without him,” Arpine Hovhannisyan said by a megaphone.
During the march, one of the ARF leaders Artsvik Minasyan noted: "After surrendering Artsakh, our lands, causing thousands of fatalities, leaving thousands of people disabled and hundreds of thousands of families homeless, Nikol Pashinyan is now handing over the border positions of Syunik.”
“He has no right to serve as the leader of the Republic of Armenia. He is a traitor, who has betrayed all of us, from Armenia to the Diaspora, from Artsakh to Javakhk. He has betrayed his ancestors and all the martyrs. He has no right to represent the Armenian people, the Republic of Armenia. That is the reason why we insist that Nikol Pashinyan must step down before the New Year. He has no right to address our people on the New Year. Nikol Pashinyan has broken and destroyed all. Only a few days are left before he is kicked out of office,” he stated.
