Suren Sargsyan: Armenia’s banking system won’t hold on long amid crises
Expert in international studies Suren Sargsyan reflected on deep post-war crises in Armenia in a Facebook post on Friday, stating they can be handled only when the current authorities step down.
“Our crises:
1. The internal political crisis already exists. Over time, it will further deepen and intensify. I will avoid using the term "civil war", but I do not remember such a dose of hatred and intolerance in our history. Clashes and revenge are the least that will happen.
2. The foreign policy crisis will be something new for us. It will emerge in the wake of new realities in the region, the strengthening of Turkey's regional influence, a decrease in the level of our subjectivity, our security priorities and other factors.
3. The economic crisis is already there. Only the banking system is still holding on in view of its firm bases. But it won't last long either. There will be no foreign or domestic investments. The market will not grow, and we will not be interesting to anyone. The economic losses are catastrophic.
4. The moral and psychological crisis will deepen unspeakably. It will be impossible to resist it. The pandemic and closed borders will discourage emigration, but it is also a matter of time. We do not exist neither morally nor mentally. The whole nation does not sleep. When you log in to Facebook at any time at night, everyone is online and depressed.
All these can be resolved only through the removal of the incompetent leaders and the involvement of qualified professionals in all areas.
Unless, of course, Armenia’s surrender to the enemy is next in line ...” he wrote.
