Opposition figure: If Armenia’s state borders were to be drawn in line with domestic law, we would have ‘sea to sea Armenia’
If Armenia’s state borders were to be drawn in accordance with the domestic law, we would have "sea to sea Armenia" now, opposition One Armenia party leader Artur Ghazinyan said on Tuesday, referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's remarks on the law on the country’s administrative-territorial division.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the premier shared copies of a 2010 law describing the administrative boundaries of a number of communities in Syunik Province as a border with Azerbaijan, stating today’s borders are determined by that law.
“He is so ignorant that he does not even know that state borders are not drawn in accordance with the Armenian law, as the law adopted by the Armenian National Assembly has zero value for Azerbaijan,” Ghazinyan wrote on Facebook.
“The issue of drawing state borders is resolved by an interstate commission set up by two or more states under an international agreement, on the basis of which domestic laws are adopted.
“Armenia has not signed an international agreement with Azerbaijan, has not formed an interstate commission, in general, the interstate border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has NEVER EXISTED, as independent Armenia and independent Azerbaijan have been at war since 1991.
"Now Azerbaijan, with the help of Nikol and the tacit support of the My Step bloc, is drawing a border in its favor, which is again a treason,” he added.
