New participants join nationwide protests declared by Armenian opposition
New participants are joining the nationwide strike, boycott of classes and other civil disobedience actions declared by Armenia’s opposition forces making up the Homeland Salvation Movement beginning on December 22.
“Dozens of organizations, structures, cultural, scientific and educational unions and institutions have joined the protests. More than two dozen companies joined the general strike in the past few hours,” the movement said in a statement.
“Businesses and organizations, which consider the military, political, financial and economic problems of the state as a challenge, are convinced that the activities of the person holding the Armenian prime minister’s post, due to which we have lost almost 75% of Artsakh’s territory, have thousands of victims, wounded and missing, should be immediately stopped.
“The companies that joined the strike also warn that the country is on the verge of economic collapse due to Nikol Pashinyan's socio-economic policy. The budget gap, the general rise in prices, the devaluation of the dram, the huge state debt, declining GDP and dozens of other challenges have put at risk the future of the country,” the opposition said, again urging all to join the nationwide protests.
