Investigators visited the opposition candidate for the PM's post, Saghatelyan says
Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a member of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF, Dashnaktsutyun) party, has been summoned to the Investigative Committee of Armenia in order to give an explanation within the framework of reports being prepared. As Saghatelyan told reporters outside the building of the Investigative Committee, the invitation referred to his yesterday's speech during the opposition rally at Republic Square in Yerevan.
"Actually, I made political statements yesterday and gave no explanation to them. The criminal cases initiated or planned may not suspend our struggle. We will even act more decisively, since saving our homeland is at stake," Saghatelyan said, adding the opposition will not yield to any pressure.
Saghatelyan next said that Nikol Pashinyan has no option to stay in power.
"You may have seen Artur Vanetsyan was earlier called to summoning as part of a case, me and other opposition figures were invited to law enforcement bodies. The investigators have visited Vazgen Manukyan earlier today. Authorities try to use these methods to threaten, launch prosecutions, detain with a hope to pressure on us. Our ranks, however, will further expand. We will remove the supreme traitor to build our country together," said Saghatelyan.
The opposition member added that with their actions, the authorities place the investigative bodies, the National Security Service and the Police in a difficult position and the only way out remains for them to stand by people and refuse to implement the traitor's orders.
