Protests calling for Pashinyan's resignation ended in Yerevan, sit-in strikes continue
Since 10.00 in the morning on Thursday, citizens have gathered outside the government building, blocked the entrances to prevent Nikol Pashinyan and his cabinet members to enter the building. The opposition plan was to cancel the cabinet meeting, however the cabinet members were able to enter the building, and the meeting was convened.
While the cabinet meeting was in progress, protesters outside the government chanted "Nikol, you are traitor!" "Armenia without Nikol." Opposition members addressed the public. During the civil disobedience actions, citizens also blocked a central street, threw eggs at the government headquarters, followed by clashes with law enforcement and detentions of some 70 activists.
The protesters next marched to the Office of the Prosecutor General, where the civil disobedience actions concluded. Meanwhile, the sit-down strikes started days ago at the Republic square continue.
