Aronian goes through the knockout phase of the Airthings Masters
The last three rounds in the preliminary stage at the $200,000 Airthings Masters online rapid chess tournament completed on Monday. Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian first drew with Pentala Harikrishna of India, Daniil Dubov of Russia and lost to David Anton of Spain. The Armenian scored 5,5 points, was placed in the sixth position which was enough for him to clinch a quarterfinal spot.
The knockout phase starts on Tuesday with the matches Carlsen-Dubov, MVL-So, Nakamura-Aronian, and Radjabov-Nepomniachtchi.
