Armenia’s Aronian finishes second in Airthings Masters
Armenian GM Levon Aronian finished second in the $200,000 Airthings Masters online rapid chess tournament after losing to Teimour Radjabov of Azerbaijan in the final.
Aronian drew three games and lost one in the first set of their title-clash on Saturday. The Armenian chess star played a draw with white pieces in the first and third games, but lost the second game of the second day of the final on Sunday.
In the quarterfinals, Aronian had defeated Hikaru Nakamura of the US (2.5-1.5, 2-0) and in the semifinals – French Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (3-1, 2-1).
The Airthings Masters ran from 26 December to 3 January.
