Mikayel Minasyan: 'Our cross is heavy, our work is difficult, our mission is just'
Armenia’s former Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan has congratulated Armenians on the Christmas celebrated in the country on 6 January.
“Christ was born and came into the world in response to evil. He brought light against darkness. In general, the birth of Christ symbolizes the struggle of God and people against Satan and evil forces. Therefore, the sacrament of Christianity is also the relentless struggle. We live a whole Christian life realizing that it will be only struggle.
Christianity is also power. The Crusaders defended what they believed in with the cross and sword, liberating those who were imprisoned with prejudice, fear and despair.
Christianity is also a unifying force when Catholicos Kevork V united the secularists, the military and the people, leading them to victory.
This January 6 has such a message for us. Our cross is heavy, our work is difficult, our mission is just.
God does not send a mission impossible for us to carry out, he does not sentence us to impossibility. What we must do is possible, what we must achieve is real and what we must go through with difficulty is bearable.
We have a mission to bring back our soldiers, to find the missing, to bury the bodies of the dead, to heal the wounded, to restore each part of our homeland, to reclaim our right to a state, to reunite in solidarity, to build not a fragile but a solid, unbreakable and indisputable future that no one can take away from our children.
Our cross is our strength, our sword is anointed with faith.
Merry Christmas!” he wrote on Facebook.
