Armenia’s former Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan has shared on his Telegram Channel the image of PM Nikol Pashinyan and President Armen Sarkissian laughing together. In the accompanying message Minasyan wrote: 

"There was a time when they enjoyed the people's love. They used every chance to go to street - the visit of Chancellor Merkel, the wine festival, the Independence Day, The Children's Day, the barbecue festival. They haven't missed an opportunity to appear among the people. That was the time of virtual Armenia, during the honeymoon of revolutionary leaders, when the inherited resources were being spared through a PR. The poor and betrayed Armenia on the brink of apocalypse is now intimidating them. They are afraid to go outside, as they are met by egging, cursed, insulted and threatened. That will always accompany them," Minasyan wrote. 

In the words of the former Ambassador, both Pashinyan and Sarkissian will likely miss the Christmas Liturgy, since one of them has 'successfully contracted coronavirus and self-isolated in his beloved London' the other - tries 'to avoid the shame ahead of the regular planned visit.' 

"There are no words, coronavirus appears to be a convenient excuse to hide, yet it would not wash the dirt from their hands, blood and soul. We can only be pleased that our brightest holiday will not be marred by their presence. Merry Christmas! Let the light come to our hearts, bring peace to our homes and bless our journey," Minasyan added. 

To note, the Ambassador's message came amid the reports that president Armen Sarkissian tested positive for coronavirus during a visit to London and would remain in self-isolation. Meanwhile, PM Nikol Pashinyan didn't attend the traditional January 6 Christmas Liturgy served in Yerevan amid fears of protests.
