Vardan Poghosyan stresses need to show what happened in Artsakh in 2020 was aggression against country
In the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, close attention must be paid to the fact that the Artsakh Republic was founded in 1991 in accordance with both the Soviet and international law, according to constitutionalist Vardan Poghosyan.
"It is an established state, a de facto state, regardless of whether or not it is recognized by any country," he told a conference on the recent Artsakh war.
Vardan Poghosyan stressed the need to show the international community that what happened in Artsakh in September, October and November 2020 was aggression against the country.
"It was use of force prohibited by international law and it’s necessary to overcome the consequences of the aggression,” the expert said.
He stated Armenia’s foreign policy should now focus on getting the country’s losses condemned by the international community, achieving the de-occupation of the Artsakh territories controlled by Azerbaijan.
