Armenia saw 7.2% decline in economic activity in 11 months of 2020, statistics show
The economic activity of Armenia dropped by 7.2% in January-November 2020 against the same period of 2019, according to the latest data released by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.
The country’s industrial output decreased by 0.2% in eleven months and foreign trade turnover – by 12.4%, with exports falling by 5.2%. The largest decline – 15.9% – was recorded in the imports sector.
Significant drop was registered in the construction sector (11.2%), trade turnover (13.5%) and services (13.6%)
According to the statistics, the consumer price index dropped by 0.1%, while the industrial product price index increased by 2.2% in eleven months of 2020.
Meanwhile, nominal wages of state employees rose by 5.9% and those of private sector employees by 3.2%.
Incidentally, the Statistical Committee did not release data on the gross agricultural output.
