Parents of soldiers serving in Artsakh gather outside the government building
A group of parents of Armenian soldiers serving in Artsakh have gathered on Thursday outside the government building in Yerevan and demand their sons to ge transfered to Armenia or get a vacation.
"We have been in high anxiety for 45 days. Our children are sick, in difficult condition, and we want them to return to Armenia for a vacation," one of the parents told reporters. The primary concern of the parents is about the health condition and safety of their sons in Artsakh. They referred to ceasefire violation incidents with the most recent one recorded on Wednesday when a Defense Army soldier received gunshot wound by Azerbaijani forces. Another case of death was reported this week when a soldier died from a disease.
"The war has not ended for parents of servicemen, killed, those missing, in captivity or still continuing their service in Artsakh. We learnt about the ceasefire violation incident yesterday. The war still continues for us, since our sons are still being targeted," one the parents said.
The parents also said they want the authorities to answer their concerns and not avoid a meeting with them which has been the case over the past days. "We will see today whether they have enough courage to talk to us," one of the participants of the protest stressed.
