Hero Colonel Vahagn Asatryan would have turned 44 today
Today, January 14, marks the birthday anniversary of Colonel Vahagn Asatryan, who was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Armenia. The experienced commander killed in the 44-day war in Artsakh in 2020 would have turned 44 years old.
During 23 years of impeccable service, the military units headed by Colonel Asatryan have always been among the best.
He would quote Monte Melkonian in conversations with soldiers.
"For a soldier to obey and respect a commander, the latter must be literate, an officer must be educated. With that you will become a leader, earn respect, create your environment and your team, with which you will be able to defeat your adversary in the future," he said.
Those who knew Vahagn Asatryan described him as a strong, high-quality person, a caring father, a hero-born military and a leader who the whole staff followed.
The body of the commander, who died in Hadrut on October 12, was laid to rest at the Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan, close to the graves of Monte, Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan and his uncle Astvatsatur Petrosyan.
