
12-month inflation in Armenia stands at 3.7%
Armenia's consumer prices grew by 3.7% in December 2020 compared to December 2019, according to the Statistical Committee.
The latest figures show that the 2020 December inflation stood at 3.4% against November of the same year.
Consumer prices increased by 2.9%-3.7% in all Armenian cities under study in December against November 2020, with the highest inflation rates recorded in the town of Vagharshapat. Capital Yerevan saw a rise of 3.3% in consumer prices last year.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks grew by 4.9% in Armenia in 12 months of last year, while vegetable prices rose by 2.8%.
Prices of oils and fats increased by 13.1% in 2020. Cereals and bakery prices were up by 7.4%, with the inflation of bread and flour comprising 7.3% and 10.0%, respectively.
Prices of dairy products, cheese and eggs grew by 5.8% last year, while sugar and white sugar product prices – by 38.1%.
A deflation of 0.6% was recorded in meat produces in December 2020 from the same month of 2019, but poultry prices rose by 6.5%.
The Statistical Committee said that prices of fish, seafood, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, as well as coffee, tea and cocoa also grew in 2020.
Non-food prices rose by 3.4% last year, whereas petrol and diesel fuel costs dropped by 12.2% and 23.0%, respectively.
